NYC based Plant Recordings has come a long way, baby. From their humble beginnings as a 12" record company to their space as a leader in the dance music community, Plant seems to know what is what when it comes to new and innovative sounds. Boasting a roster of artists that includes Tittsworth, The Glass, Eli Escobar, our own Smalltown Romeo and many others that we have mad respect for, we wanted to show some love to these guys as URB magazine hosts their exclusive Plant Music History Mix, showcasing the best out of their extensive library. Our favourite ging, DJ Audit, has put out a brand new 4 track E.P. on local imprint, Punchout! Recordings. From the Homebreakin' Records camp we have the man and legend, G.S.D., providing us with this exclusive run-down of the release!
"Audit steps his game up as he brings us the fourth release from Punchout! Recordings. This four track EP starts off perfectly with the slow your roll stomper "Sounds so Sweet", which is co-produced by the New Zealand firm handshake champion Normski. It's a real head-nodding jam chopped up just right, almost slap-chopped up just right. Next up, "Pushin on Rub", is more classic Audit production featuring a great Redman sample, and great use of what sounds almost like an old female blues vocal, very P-Funk, super hype. The first track on the B side is "Disco Ting" which sees the Boogie influence of Audits new Homebreakin family mesh seamlessly with his unmistakable sound to make a track that could be the first track on any number of A sides out there, watch out for the killer bongo break, you might just get hurt. Last but definitely not least, "Yes Ya'll" features a thiiiiiiick bass-line backing up a great guitar lick, and classic vocals from.... well, we'll let you figure that out ;) You have nothing to worry about, Audit is officially back."
